In countdown to its seventh annual American Fine Wine Competition Charity Wine Gala in April, the American Fine Wine Competition (AFWC) — the largest and most prestigious All-American Invitational in the country — presents The AFWC Wine Carnival & Consumer Challenge on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Sonoma House in Boca Raton. The third annual event will provide an opportunity for guests, including South Florida’s top business professionals, philanthropists, wine enthusiasts and collectors, to try their luck at wine-themed “carnival game booths,” all while promoting the finest wines produced in the U.S., local business, supporting American wineries, and raising funds to benefit South Florida not-for-profit Deliver the Dream.
Amidst game booths like “Ring the Wine Bottle”, “Toss the Ping Pong Ball” into the wine glass, “Pull a Winning Cork”, and other festive games, there will be wine tables supplied by Total Wine & More — the official AFWC retail wine sponsor — as well as an AFWC table with pours of award-winning wines from this year’s competition. Attendees can also expect surprise tastings from visiting wineries and enjoy fabulous delicacies from area restaurants like Segreto, Terra Fiamma, Publix Apron’s and others, plus wine-paired fudge tastings from A Flair for Fudge. Ten guests will have the chance to win a spot at the Consumer Challenge Table to see how much they really know about wine; the most wine-knowledgeable (or best guesser) will win two tickets to the AFWC Charity Wine Gala (a $600 value).
“This is a fun, exciting and unique evening for all wine lovers to experience the AFWC and help raise funds for this year’s benefiting charity, Deliver the Dream,” said American Fine Wine Competition President and Co-Founder Shari Gherman. “The AFWC has always placed a priority on supporting the community, evidenced by our raising more than half-a-million dollars for charity since our inception seven years ago. This year’s proceeds are earmarked to support Deliver the Dream’s family retreat program that enables those who are experiencing serious illness or crisis to regain strength, mend spirits, and just be families and kids again.”
