The American Fine Wine Competition (AFWC), the largest and most prestigious All-American Invitational in the country, celebrates with a night of indulgence, discovery, and giving at South Florida’s finest premier wine event, the seventh annual American Fine Wine Competition Charity Wine Gala (Black Tie Optional) on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club to benefit Deliver the Dream. The not-for-profit hosts retreats that enable families who are experiencing serious illness or crisis to regain strength, mend spirits, and just be families and kids again.
Guests, including South Florida’s top business professionals, philanthropists, wine enthusiasts and collectors, will delight in visiting 30 “Winery Tasting Rooms” hosted by the winemakers themselves who will be pouring their highest award-winning wines. A five-course gourmet feast, prepared by the chefs of the Boca Raton Resort will be created to pair with the record 766 wines from the 7thannual American Fine Wine Competition that was held this January at FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. All the competition wines will be poured at the gala, tableside by 50 volunteer “Wine Angels” and one bottle of each signed by the winemaker or vintner will be available for purchase via silent auction. Highlights of the evening also include a live auction of rare wines and vineyard travel packages by celebrity emcee and auctioneer Alan Kalter, announcer for Late Night with David Letterman plus entertainment by Jazz vocalist Hilary Kole.
“The goal of the AFWC is to promote the finest wines produced in the U.S., some of America’s world-class treasures, while also promoting local business, supporting American wineries, and raising funds for charity — this year for Deliver the Dream,” said American Fine Wine Competition President and Co-Founder Shari Gherman. “Toward that mission, the AFWC has raised more than $600,000 for charity since its inception seven years ago, and this year builds on that impact for Deliver the Dream.”
