Promise Healthcare (PH) and Success Healthcare (SH) have appointed Mark L. Martinez, MD, MBA as regional chief medical officer for PH’s Western and Ruby regions and the SH system. The announcement was made by Promise Healthcare Executive Vice President and Success Healthcare Chief Executive Officer Brian Dunn.

 

Reporting to Dunn, Dr. Martinez will oversee medical staff and serve as a liaison between physicians and hospital management for the healthcare leaders’ nine long-term acute care hospitals, two short-term acute care hospitals (with four campuses) and two skilled nursing facilities in Arizona, California, Kansas, Missouri, Texas and Utah. He will also be responsible for evaluating the level of care provided in each facility and monitoring quality assurance.

 

Dr. Martinez joined Promise Hospital of Salt Lake as a staff physician in 2005 and became chief of staff in 2009. With a primary specialization in pulmonary disease, Dr. Martinez holds affiliations with several hospitals and skilled nursing facilities in the Salt Lake area. He graduated from the University Of Utah School Of Medicine in 1998 and earned an Executive MBA degree from the university in 2012. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care and recently completed the advanced training program at the Intermountain Institute for Healthcare Leadership. He serves as president of Silverton Group, LLC, a medical group practice in Salt Lake City and intensivist at St. Mark’s Hospital.
