Boca Raton, Fla. (January 7, 2010) –Allianz Championship Tournament officials today announced that the 2010 Allianz Championship PGA Champions Tour event will be free to the public. Free admission is made possible by support from the City of Boca Raton, Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz) and other sponsors. The 4th Allianz Championship, which occurs February 15-21, 2010 at The Old Course at Broken Sound, will be the first-ever PGA event in the state of Florida with free admission.
“Having received such tremendous support from fans and corporate partners over the past four years, we, the City of Boca Raton, Allianz Life and our other sponsors are thrilled that we have an opportunity to say thank you and provide this free gift to golf fans,” said Ryan Dillon, tournament director. “We encourage everyone to come out to The Old Course at Broken Sound and enjoy watching the legends of golf compete for the title.”
The Allianz Championship is the Champions Tour’s second tournament of the early-season Florida swing. The Golf Channel will provide live television coverage of all three rounds from The Old Course at Broken Sound Club. Competing for the tournament purse of $1.7 million are such golf legends as Bernhard Langer, Nick Price, Peter Jacobsen and tour rookies Tom Lehman, Paul Azinger and David Frost. Tournament event proceeds will benefit Boca Raton Community Hospital.
The week-long Allianz Championship schedule of events is currently under development, and includes a Junior Clinic and Pro-Am on Tuesday, Feb. 16th, and the Championship Pro-Am on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 17th and 18th, followed by the televised 54-hole competition Friday through Sunday, Feb. 19th-21st.
Upgrades To The Spectator Experience Are Available—VIP and Skybox Seating, Sponsor Packages and an Inaugural Golf & Wine Experience Following the First Round Of Tournament Play
To upgrade the spectator experience, premium ticket packages can be purchased for VIP and Skybox seating ranging from $50 to $150. Sponsorship packages include branding opportunities, premium seating, a variety of invitation-only receptions, Pro Am play, meet and greets with the legends of golf and more.
Wine connoisseurs and golf enthusiasts can hobnob on the green with legends of golf while sampling reds and whites from the private wine collections of golf pros’ own vineyards at the first-ever Allianz Championship Golf & Wine Experience. The event will be held February 19th, immediately following the first round of Allianz Championship PGA Champions Tour play at The Old Course at Broken Sound. Tickets for the premier golf and wine event are $100 per person with sponsorship packages available; proceeds benefit Boca Raton Community Hospital.
